A bit about me

I’m a freelance editor based in Berkshire, England. I have always been a voracious reader across many genres; I have a passion for language and its power. For over thirty-five years I worked in the IT industry for multinational corporations, living abroad in Munich, Tokyo and San Francisco.

My partner is an author of a number of published works and over the past few years I have become increasingly involved in the publishing
world. By trying to help him, it sparked a passion in me — to become a fiction editor — and so that’s what I did! I qualified as a copyeditor and I am now an associate member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP).

The opportunity to be immersed in different languages and cultures changed my Weltanschauung. I think this different viewpoint enables me to embrace concepts and ideas outside the accepted norm; it helps how I work with authors. Understanding an author’s thought processes, as well as what they want to achieve, enables me to retain their unique perspective and voice, while improving their work, ensuring it is impactful, engaging prose for the targeted audience.

In 2023 I took the plunge — I gave up my career in IT in order to focus on being an editor and to help authors make their stories the very best they can be. It also means I have a lot more time to pursue my other passions and live life; love living.
